I love fashion! I have always enjoyed getting dressed up and enjoy looking at many fashion styles. I remember one time, my father took me clothes shopping when I was a little kid. He asked me to pick something from the long rack of kids clothes. Immediately, my eyes went to a two piece dress and jacket combo in a red tartan polyester fabric. I picked that one. It was the most expensive one on the rack. I remember my Dad asking me if I’d rather liked another one; I answered no. He bought the dress for me. My Mom still keeps that dress as a memento.
As time passed, clothes still had a mesmerizing effect on me. I remember a joke a friend made when I was in high school – He said that I was fashion incarnated. Today, I still love clothes and dressing up; however, I try to handle the subject with a more green approach. I love vintage pieces, and try to donate any items I don’t use. I use fabrics to make things, or as cleaning rags, if they cannot be donated. I watch my budget so I don’t overspend in clothing, also.
Thinking about my fashion evolution, I have gone from Office chic to Boho chic, as my style has evolved to a more bohemian style. I am starting to appreciate vintage Gunne Sax, which seems to capture a prairie style or early American. I guess fashion and life stage coexist and fuse for many of us, as part of style evolution.
As part of my green effort, I have been able to downsize from three full closets to only one.
