Besides all the usual staples in a pantry, there are always a few that make your life easier, and will become constants. I keep a simple pantry, with the basics, very versatile. If I want to prepare something that requires a variety of different ingredients, I will make a special trip to the supermarket. However, there are a few items that save me time and money, and will always find a place in my Pantry. Here they are, and why I happen to like them.
Nutella – I try to eat healthy, and when chocolate or sweet cravings attack, this one saves me. All it takes is a bit on a slice of toast and I am satisfied.
Olive oil in a can – I use several brands, and when they are on sale, you end up saving more. I only use olive oil, so it lasts me longer if I buy a can. The cans are usually attractive and can double as vases for wild flowers or as storage bins.
Ramen Noodle Soup – A quick and easy way to take care of lunch, especially if you are pressed for time. Take a few minutes to make and all the needed seasonings are right on the package. There are very inexpensive, under $4 for a package of 12 or so.
Old Bay Seasoning – An old fashion staple that has been around for long. Lasts long and is perfect for seafood. The can is also cute, and you can use it as storage as well, or to hold your paper clips …
Kedem Minestrone Soup Mix – All you need for minestrone soup in a convenient bag, including the seasoning pack. Saves you time and money.
Domino Sugar Cubes – I like these because I can control the amount of sugar I put in my coffee. I don’t use artificial sweeteners; I prefer the real deal. One or two cubes is perfect for me. It has helped me reduce sugar consumption. Cost around $1.40 or so at the supermarket.
Skippy Peanut Butter – This is the only brand I like. I have tried others and they don’t have the same taste and consistency. Organic ones taste too oily for me. I have this at hand for when the munchies attack. All it takes is a teaspoon of it to take care of them.
These are a few of my pantry favorites and why they make my life easier. Hope you enjoyed today’s post.
