With any radical change or move, doubt comes attached, and the silent question is usually:  “Am I making the right decision”?  My question took the shape of a silent prayer:  “God, give me a sign that this is the right move for us.”  And I left it at that, did not think anymore about it, and kept doing my planning …

On February 12th, as Eddie was taking over the job of boarding the windows of the farmhouse to protect the house from further damage, I took over the removal of the layers of carpet and linoleum in the den – the last room remaining to be done.  When I removed the last layer of linoleum I found a well preserved page of a local newspaper – The Bee.  I checked the date and it was from February 12th 1955 – the same day, but in 1955.  I said to myself:  “What a coincidence, this is today’s day”!  Then I sat down and scanned the page to see what it was about.  To my surprise the articles written were about homes, do’s and don’ts when fixing a home, and other ads in the page - about houses.  Even a floor plan.  Then it hit me.  My prayer had been answered.  What are the odds that I would find a newspaper page that has the same date – on the same day – that talks about home fixing?  If Eddie would have been the one cleaning that area, he would have looked at it briefly and toss it in the garbage.  It was meant for me to find it.  What better way to communicate with someone who loves writing than through a piece of written paper?  Immediately, I felt humble and thanked God.

I plan to save the page and frame it to hang it in the den when we finish the restoration.  Here are some pics of the newspaper page.

I still have to do some reading on it to see if there is a message for me …
